Step by step on producing white bar soap.

Ingredients and Equipment

  1. Palm Kernel Oil. 7500 liters.
  2. Alkali. Approximately 9250 kilograms of caustic soda crystals or lye solution.
  3. Water. Approximately 3000 liters.
  4. Titanium Dioxide. A suitable amount to achieve the desired whiteness.
  5. Large Stainless Steel Mixing Vessels.
  6. Precise Weighing Scales.
  7. Safety Gear (Goggles, Gloves, Protective Attire).

Step 1. Preparation

Ensure all safety gear is worn before handling the alkali and oils. Measure and pour the specified amount of caustic soda crystals into the water to create the lye solution. Stir thoroughly until dissolved. Set aside to cool.

Step 2. Heating Palm Kernel Oil

Heat the 7500 liters of palm kernel oil to a temperature range between 110°F to 130°F (43°C to 54°C) in a large mixing vessel. Aim for the lower end of the temperature range to prevent scorching or overheating.

Step 3. Adding Lye Solution

Slowly and carefully pour the prepared lye solution into the heated palm kernel oil while continuously stirring. Use a robust mechanical mixer for consistent blending. Continue stirring until the mixture reaches the "trace" stage, indicated by a thickened consistency.

Step 4. Incorporating Titanium Dioxide

Gradually add the titanium dioxide powder to the soap mixture while stirring continuously. The amount added depends on the desired whiteness; start with a small quantity and adjust as needed. Thoroughly mix the titanium dioxide into the soap batter until evenly distributed to achieve the desired whiteness.

Step 5. Pouring and Setting.

Immediately pour the soap mixture into the prepared molds suitable for the substantial volume. Allow the soap to cool and set in the molds for a minimum of 24 to 48 hours to solidify.

Step 6. Cutting and Curing.

Once set, cut the soap into bars or blocks using appropriate equipment. Cure the cut soap for several weeks to months for optimal hardness and quality.

Utilizing palm kernel oil and titanium dioxide as the primary fat and colorant, respectively, in soap production can result in high-quality white bar soap. Follow these steps precisely, ensuring safety measures and accurate measurements throughout the soap-making process to create a large batch of beautifully white soap bars.
